Make Your Outdoor Space an Inviting Space! 1. Clean it up! Power wash the outdoor patio or deck to get rid of dirt as well as moss that may have grown. 2. Seal surfaces! If your patio has not been sealed in a few years, consider this to protect it’s surface and increase it’s longevity. 3. Protect your surfaces! Make sure you have a well-fitted table and/or chair covers for your outdoor furniture. While it’s best to store fabrics inside during the winter, a good water resistant cover in the warmer weather can keep surfaces protected from falling pollen, leaves, and animals. 4. Have comfortable, varied seating! Table and chairs to sit around are always welcoming, but consider an outdoor sofa and some lounge chairs as well. Give yourself plenty of room to relax and lounge, whether it’s with a snack or book, or for a nap. Maybe consider a hammock…there are now freestanding options for any space! 5. Kiddie Pools are *IN* this summer! At home kiddie pools are your solution to staying cool WHILE social distancing this summer. They are inexpensive and can fit in almost any outdoor space…they aren’t just for kids anymore! 6. Consider plants! They serve many purposes…they can add beauty and color to your yard, they add wonderful fragrance, AND plants like citronella or eucalyptus can deter mosquitoes — that’s something we can get behind! 7. Umbrellas! A nice big umbrella can provide shade from the hot sun, making your outdoor space much more comfortable at any time of day. 8. Lighting! Outdoor string lights, candles, and fire pits can all breathe life into your outdoor space at night, allowing you to maximize your outside time in a fun and inviting atmosphere. |
