Thanksgiving is here! With it comes the opportunity to be grateful for the many things we have. It is also a reminder that the holiday season is now upon us! As the weeks ahead become filled with parties, obligations, and shopping let us find ways to remain grateful instead of feeling the stress from all the activity. Here are 4 tips to help navigate this season with grace: 1. Remember To Eat Real Food With cookies, cakes and chocolates showing up everywhere, don’t let them take over! Keep your energy up by snacking on fruits and veggies instead. If you can do this, the times you choose the “sweets” will be that much sweeter! If your home is being overwhelmed with food gifts, remember those in need and donate to a shelter near you. 2. Schedule Down Time Don’t forget to schedule time for YOU. Find a way to relax and have some personal quiet time. Enjoy a bath soak, read a book, or sip some tea. This alone time will help keep you feeling balanced during the busy holiday season. If organizing a small area of your home brings joy, use the time to keep at it! 3. Keep Exercise On Your Schedule It may be harder to fit your exercise in but it can also help keep you calm and feeling good. We know that exercise releases endorphins which can help manage stress. Exercise is also a way to have your space, clear your mind, and stay fit. 4. Remember Kindness The holidays are a good time to practice compassion and kindness. Holidays can be an emotionally difficult time for many people. Now is a good time to take a look around your home to see if someone can benefit from things you are ready to discard. Making a donation of items, time or money to help others is also going to leave you feeling light and happy. Please help us as we join The Sharing Shelf in their effort to provide winter coats, hats, and gloves to those in need. As we take time to give thanks for what we have, take time to go through your closets and remember to donate the items you no longer use. Your efforts will surely go a long way in making someone else’s holiday season that much brighter. We hope these tips help you enjoy the season even more.
